Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) remembered the late Jerry Lee Lewis and made the following statement:
“I knew Jerry Lee for many, many years. My good friend and mentor Irvin Salky was his attorney for decades. Jerry Lee was a force bigger than life. He was a legendary entertainer and part of the Memphis music scene and its illustrious history. We’re fortunate Sam Phillips’ Sun Studio attracted him to Memphis and kick-started the career of a rock ‘n’ roll legend.”
