From July 21, 2022 post
Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), helped pass the Right to Contraception Act in the House to codify the right to access contraception. The legislation follows Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas's concurring opinion stating that the Court should reconsider Griswold v. Connecticut, the 1965 Court decision that recognized the constitutional right to access contraception.
"The Dobbs decision upended 50 years of precedent and opened the door for states to enact extremist laws blocking a range of reproductive health care, from abortion to contraception," said Congressman Chris Pappas. "Justice Thomas's concurring opinion made it very clear that the far right will not stop at the Dobbs decision. I urge the Senate to take this legislation up swiftly to protect access to contraception and reproductive health from judges and politicians who are working to take it away."
Background:
In July 2022, Pappas passed the Women's Health Protection Act to codify Roe v. Wade and safeguard the right to safe, legal abortion. Pappas also helped pass legislation to protect women who cross state lines seeking abortion care.
Pappas is also a co-sponsor of the My Body My Data Act which protects personal reproductive health data.
