Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, held his third Farm Bill roundtable discussion today at the Pivot Bio booth at the Farm Progress Show in Boone. He met with farmers and attendees of the event in a question-and-answer format to discuss priorities for the upcoming Farm Bill and any subject Iowans raised.

“The Farm Progress Show is where the agriculture community gathers to learn about the latest technology and innovative ideas. By allowing farmers to have a seat at the table to discuss issues they care about, I can learn more about their priorities and bring their input to the Farm Bill discussions in D.C. As a family farmer and strong advocate for agriculture, I know the hard work that farmers and producers do every day to feed and fuel our country and world,” Grassley said.

“When I think about what Senator Grassley’s work for farmer’s means to me, I think of government at the grassroots level and honesty. Those are the two primary things in agriculture that we could ask for,” Lurlin Hoelscher, a farmer from Williams, IA, said.

“I am happy to see Senator Grassley at the Farm Progress Show talking to Iowa corn farmers and hearing the issues. Iowa Corn brought up some issues related to fertilizer, the pricing and availability. It was good to get Senator Grassley’s input and perspective on the tariffs and how they should be taken off,” Kevin Studer, Federal Policy Advisor, Iowa Corn Growers Association, said.

Today’s roundtable was the third discussion Grassley has had with Iowa’s farmers and agriculture leaders in the past few weeks. On August 16, he met with various nutrition organizations, businesses and non-profits to discuss nutrition programs at Capital City Fruit in Norwalk. On August 29, Grassley and Rep. Randy Feenstra (IA-04) met with leaders from Iowa agriculture groups in Lake City to discuss farm program priorities.

As one of only two grain farmers in the Senate, Grassley speaks up for his fellow Iowa farmers. A member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, he will bring the concerns and ideas he has heard directly from Iowa’s producers to the policymaking table during the 2023 Farm Bill discussions.
