From September 12, 2022 post.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), today cosponsored legislation to untangle a web of federal red tape that has prevented key energy from moving forward.  The Simplify Timelines and Assure Regulatory Transparency (START) Act, a comprehensive federal regulatory permitting and project review reform package would clarify criteria and timelines for federal review and ensure projects aren’t indefinitely caught in regulatory limbo.  The package is authored by Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Ranking Member Shelly Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and cosponsored by 33 other Republicans.

“As Americans continue to face high energy prices that have also led to skyrocketing prices on necessities, like groceries, the last thing we need is bureaucratic red tape delaying projects to improve energy access and affordability. Streamlining the federal permitting process will ensure that critical energy projects and many other aren’t stuck in regulatory limbo and provide a clear roadmap for federal approval.  Senator Capito has taken the lead on writing this bill, and I’m happy to cosponsor this effort,” Grassley said.

Along with Capito and Grassley, the bill is supported by 36 senators, including, U.S. Senators Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), John Thune (R-S.D.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Todd Young (R-Ind.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), Richard Burr (R-N.C.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
