From March  23, 2022 post.

U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) issued the following statement on the death of former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright:

"Madeleine Albright was an extraordinary leader, trailblazer, and American. She was a fierce defender of democracy, promoting freedom throughout the world. And as our first female Secretary of State, she stood on the global stage and showed the world exactly what America stood for – and what women can achieve.

“Her story, in so many ways, is that of America's – she came here as a refugee and rose to become the first female Secretary of State. In doing so, she inspired people from every walk of life, including me. When I was first elected to the Senate, she took the time to meet with me and provide mentorship and counsel – something she did for countless women in public service. Her generosity of spirit was unmatched and reflected in her life of service to our country and in her work championing human rights and democracy both at home and abroad.

“As we respond to the challenges of today, her legacy lives on as we continue to keep our country safe, secure, and free.”
