From August 9, 2022 post

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) released the following statement following President Biden signing the CHIPS and Science Act into law:

"My conversations with local businesses and manufacturers in New Hampshire have made clear that this game-changing legislation will pay dividends for years to come. These investments will directly support New Hampshire's manufacturing sector, and by accelerating the production of semiconductor chips and investing in science and technology we will also strengthen our supply chains while lowering costs for our families and small businesses. I've been fighting to pass this landmark law because of the economic boost it will bring to New Hampshire, and I will continue working to ensure our communities see the full benefits of this legislation."

Background:

In July, Pappas helped pass the bipartisan Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) and Science Act in the House to boost American competitiveness by supporting domestic manufacturing of semiconductor chips, strengthening our supply chains, and investing substantially in science and technology developments.

In April, Congressman Pappas was named to the bipartisan conference committee working to negotiate a final piece of legislation based on the House-passed America COMPETES Act and the Senate's United States Innovation and Competition Act of 2021 (USICA).

Pappas fought to pass the America COMPETES Act in February to make transformational new investments in research, innovation, and American manufacturing that will ensure that America can outcompete any nation in the world, now and for decades to come. That legislation also included provisions introduced and co-led by Pappas to strengthen ‘Made in America' provisions and support small manufacturers and rural businesses.
