Today, as ballots officially went out to voters across Washington State, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren joined U.S. Senator Patty Murray for a Get Out The Vote Rally at the Seattle Center with Governor Jay Inslee, U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal (D, WA-07) and NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju to highlight the stakes of Washington’s U.S. Senate race and encourage Washingtonians to vote for Patty and turn in their ballots.
The event was part of Senator Murray’s Patty for WA Campaign Tour of town halls and Get Out The Vote events to discuss key issues at stake in the November midterm elections, from reproductive rights to Patty’s focus on lowering costs and building an economy that works for everyone — more on Senator Murray’s recent Patty for WA events is here.
“Democrats have delivered middle-class tax cuts, the biggest action to combat the climate crisis in U.S. history, investments in American jobs and manufacturing, real relief for working people burdened by student loans, and lower everyday costs for families on things like prescription drugs and health care,” said Patty Murray. “We have gotten a lot done with a razor-thin majority, and there’s a lot more I want to do. We can, and we need, to do more to make sure our economy works for everyone — not just billionaires and corporations.”
“Democrats believe our economy and our country should work for all of us. Republicans believe it should work only for a few—those at the very, very top. Tough luck for everyone else,” Murray continued. “That’s a big difference. I know it — you all know it. And we have 18 days to make sure all of Washington state knows it.”
“In this election, the economy is on the ballot. And because Republicans are working hard to cut Social Security and Medicare so they can make this economy work even better for billionaires, I’m here to ask you to vote Democratic to help us lower costs and to make this economy work for everyone,” said Senator Elizabeth Warren.
“I’ve worked with Patty Murray for a long time; I’ve known her for years,” Warren continued. “Patty is a fighter. Patty is in the fight to lower costs, to protect Social Security and Medicare. She is in the fight to protect access to abortion. She is in the fight to protect our earth from a carbon-based nightmare. She is in the fight to defend our democracy. Patty has given everything she’s got to this fight. And I believe that if we stand together, if we fight together, and if we persist together, then we will win!”
