As ballots officially began going out to voters across Washington state, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) crisscrossed the Greater Seattle Area — with stops in West Seattle, the Central District, and the International District — and campaigned with Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) during a Friday night rally at the Seattle Center and a Saturday morning Get Out The Vote canvass kickoff launch at Martin Luther King Jr Memorial Park.
Murray is continuing her Patty for WA Campaign Tour of town halls and Get Out The Vote events to discuss key issues at stake in the November election— more on Senator Murray’s recent Patty for WA events is here.
On Friday morning, Patty joined NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju at C&P Coffee in West Seattle to kick off a coffee and canvass event in West Seattle with supporters who are pro-choice, pro-coffee, and pro-Patty.Afterwards, Patty joined local Black leaders at Mount Zion Baptist Church in the Central District for a discussion on issues including crime, racial justice, and the critical investments Patty is fighting for to benefit working families – like childcare, quality education, and paid leave.
Later in the afternoon, Patty joined Hyeok Kim, former Deputy Mayor of Seattle, State Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos, Port Commissioner Sam Cho, and others on a walking tour of the International District and meet-and-greet with local residents and small business owners. On Friday night, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) joined Patty Murray for a Get Out The Vote Rally with voters and supporters at the Seattle Center, along with Governor Jay Inslee, U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal (D, WA-07), and NARAL President Mini Timmaraju — more here. Senator Warren recounted how it was Patty Murray who recruited her to run for Senate, and told the crowd how Patty is a “fighter,” saying “she is in the fight to lower costs, to protect Social Security and Medicare. She is in the fight to protect access to abortion. She is in the fight to protect our earth from a carbon-based nightmare. She is in the fight to defend our democracy. Patty has given everything she’s got to this fight.” And on Saturday morning, Patty Murray and Elizabeth Warren spoke to a crowd of volunteers and supporters at a canvass kickoff rally at MLK Park in Seattle.
