Sixth District Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement regarding President Joe Biden’s recent executive order mandating the COVID-19 vaccine or weekly testing for private-sector companies with 100 or more employees:

“Instead of taking steps to stop the cost of gasoline, groceries, electricity – and virtually everything else – from rising, Joe Biden is implementing an unconstitutional and unlawful vaccine mandate that will further hurt hardworking families,” said Congressman Johnson. “While Joe Biden claims his vaccine mandate is an emergency, it took him two months to release it and it won’t take effect until next year. This vaccine mandate has nothing to do with stopping COVID. It’s about government control of the American people’s lives. It’s about creating two Americas – rewarding those who are vaccinated and punishing those who are not. This shameful vaccine mandate will add even more damage on top of Joe Biden’s policies that are creating severe supply-chain and labor shortages and put an increased burden on small businesses already struggling to keep their doors open. If the federal government can force you to take a vaccine, just think what else the Federal government could require in the future. I will continue fighting against this dangerous Big Government socialistic overreach because the choice to get the vaccine should be between you and your doctor, not a directive from Joe Biden.”
