Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) made her way across Pierce and King Counties to meet with voters and supporters, discuss her work fighting for families and an economy that works for everyone — not just those at the top — and other key issues on the ballot. Days from Election Day, Patty is keeping up a packed schedule of Patty for WA Campaign Tour of meet and greets, Get Out The Vote Stops, roundtable discussions, and town halls to discuss key issues and highlight the stakes of Patty’s race in Washington state. This morning, Patty Murray joined U.S. Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland and Tacoma Councilman Keith Blocker at Red Elm Coffee in Tacoma, where they spoke about what Patty is doing to help small businesses across Washington state tackle the issues they are facing, including increased crime and inflation. Murray played a key role in passing the American Rescue Plan, which included critical funding to help small businesses keep their doors open and employees on payroll, as well as increased resources for state and local governments to keep law enforcement officers on payroll. Murray also helped pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which includes funding for community based violence prevention initiatives and cracking down on criminals who seek to avoid gun licensing requirements.

Patty then headed to Shiloh Baptist Church, where she joined community members and faith leaders, including members of the Tacoma Ministerial Alliance and the Black Collective, to discuss her work to lower everyday costs for the basics and build safer communities.

Patty then heard from parents and families in Federal Way about the issues that are top-of-mind for them and discussed her ongoing work to build an economy that puts kids and families first. Patty spoke about her fight to get a strong federal paid leave policy over the finish line — one that we can pay for by simply making sure billionaires and giant corporations pay their fair share — as well as her plan, which is backed by nearly the entire Senate Democratic caucus and President Biden, to make child care more affordable and accessible for every family. Finally, Patty joined State Representative Mia Gregerson (LD-33) and SeaTac Councilmember Mohamed Egal at the Mall of Africa in SeaTac, where she spoke with local voters and supporters about the importance of this election and making sure every person turns in their ballot before volunteers headed out to knock on doors.
