Spokane attorney to run against Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers

Natasha Hill, a Spokane attorney, has announced a Democratic bid for Congress against long-time Republican Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

Hill owns a law firm in Spokane where she practices civil and entertainment law. She has also been involved in civil rights protests and groups in the area, and was a member of the county’s redistricting committee.

She is endorsed by Spokane’s Democratic state legislators and Spokane City Councilwoman Betsy Wilkerson.

Hill is one of two Democrats who has announced a bid for the seat. Ann Marie Danimus, a Spokane Valley Democrat who owns a marketing business, is also running for the seat. Danimus is also a former Miss Spokane and has previously run against Senator Mike Padden.

According to the Federal Elections Commission, Hill and Danimus have not yet raised any funds.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers has represented the 5th Congressional District, which stretches from Walla Walla to the Canadian border, since 2005. She has won every election by at least 9%.

McMorris Rodgers has already raised $2 million in advance of the 2022 election.
