Rep. French Hill (AR-02) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 7691, the Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act:“America will always have the back of our allies. Period. By helping Ukrainians beat back a tyrannical Russia, American aid demonstrates to our allies around the world and the Ukrainian people that we will not tolerate one country illegally encroaching on another country’s sovereignty.“Let me be clear: if Ukraine falls, Putin will not stop his march across Europe and authoritarian countries like China will see that as a greenlight to threaten the use of military force against peaceful nations like Taiwan. Ultimately, unchecked aggression like this will come back home to America in the form of lost job opportunities and threats to economic and national security“This bill supports our military and our leadership around the world by providing vital funding to replenish and provide authorities under the Defense Production Act to ensure we’re getting weapons and materials to the Ukrainians in a timely manner, but also so we can quickly resupply our own domestic stocks. Most importantly, it includes important funding for our troops serving in the region.“Through my coordination with the U.S. mission to the UN, and after traveling to the region with Republican Leader McCarthy, I noticed a disturbing lack of clarity and coordination as to how U.S. humanitarian aid ultimately reached its intended destination. I was happy to see provisions in this bill to ensure U.S. aid go through local and international non-governmental organizations and rely less on going through the UN.”
