From October 4, 2022 post.

Today, Charlie Crist, candidate for governor of Florida, released a statement on reports of protests in Cuba following the devastation Hurricane Ian dealt to the island that has left many without power and social services.

In a statement, Charlie Crist said:

“My heart is with the Cuban people during this difficult time as they recover from the same storm that devastated our beautiful Florida. Cubans, who were already suffering from political repression, resource shortages, and regular power outages caused by the communist regime face a daunting rebuild.

“The past week serves as a stark reminder that we need to keep pressure on this heartless regime and find new, creative ways to get internet and communications to the island, so innocent Cubans can access uncensored information and communicate with loved ones both on and off the island.

“Now is not the time to forget about the regime’s sins or abandon the Cuban people. ¡Cuba será libre!”
