A new report today confirms that a DeSantis operative specifically sought out and targeted Venezuelan refugees when trying to find migrants to lure onto a flight from Texas to Massachusetts paid for by Florida taxpayer dollars. According to the report, which unmasks the figure previously known only as “Perla” who was responsible for tricking the refugees in Texas:
“She [Perla] asked him to help her recruit other migrants like him from Venezuela. But he said he felt betrayed, because she never mentioned working on behalf of the Florida government. ‘I was also lied to,’ he said. ‘If I had known, I would not have gotten involved.’ All he was told, he said, was that ‘she wanted to help people head up north.’”
Crist Spokesperson Samantha Ramirez issued the following statement:
“This report confirms the DeSantis Administration specifically sought to target our Venezuelan brothers and sisters – refugees he knew were fleeing the terror and oppression of the socialist Maduro regime – for his sick political stunt. “DeSantis operatives were directed to lure these refugees with the promise of the freedom and opportunity they had risked their lives for. “Ron DeSantis should answer questions about his relationship to this operative, whether she was paid with Florida taxpayer dollars, and what legal justification existed for any part of this disgusting charade.”
