“Charlie Crist is the leader Florida needs right now”

Today, civil rights leader Dr. Johnnetta Cole endorsed Charlie Crist to be the next governor of Florida.

Dr. Johnnetta Cole’s endorsement follows Crist’s dominating debate performance where he held Ron DeSantis accountable for refusing to commit to serve a full four year term if re-elected as well as failing to keep Florida affordable and safe under his watch.

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of Dr. Johnnetta Cole, an incredible leader and inspiration for so many across the Sunshine State,” said Charlie Crist. “Right now, Florida has a governor who has lobbed attack after attack on Florida’s Black and brown communities — eliminating four predominantly Black congressional districts and restricting the teaching of accurate history in our schools. Florida deserves better; Florida deserves a governor who cares and who will always have their back — I’ll be that governor.”

“Charlie Crist is the leader Florida needs right now,” said Dr. Johnnetta Cole. “DeSantis has pitted Floridian against Floridian for his own personal gain — and his reckless, extremist rhetoric is not only wrong, it’s dangerous. Floridians deserve a governor that won’t eliminate Black congressional districts, intimidate voters, and make it harder for minority communities to cast a ballot. I’m proud to endorse Charlie Crist for governor and bring a champion for all Floridians back into the governor’s office.”
