Charlie Crist, candidate for governor of Florida, released a statement following President Biden’s speech promising legislative action to restore Roe v. Wade protections. 

“Today, we heard President Biden provide a stark description of the reality facing women and girls, including survivors of rape and incest in Ron DeSantis’s Florida.

“The President made clear what Floridians have known to be true since the Dobbs decision. There is only one person standing between Floridians and the total annihilation of their personal rights – the next Governor of Florida.  

“We know what this legislature and Governor Ron DeSantis have already done and where they stand. And make no mistake, Ron DeSantis is only getting started. He is ready to completely outlaw abortion should he be reelected.

“But unlike him, I will stand up for Floridians by doing what I have done before: promising to veto any anti-choice legislation while fighting for and defending a woman’s right to choose on day one.

“Florida, you have a clear choice on November 8th.  

“This race is like David and Goliath. And much like David, we are in the fight of our lives in this race but you, the voters, are the slingshot. And with your help, we will defeat Ron DeSantis and protect choice in our state.”
