Charlie Crist’s campaign for governor of Florida released a statement slamming Ron DeSantis for his continued cruelty and failure to lead as new bodycam footage reveals the genuine shock and confusion of Floridians arrested for voting illegally despite being told they could vote by various state agencies.
The arrests, which were touted by DeSantis as part of “voter fraud crackdown,” are a clear and transparent attempt at voter intimidation. At the time, members of DeSantis’s own party called on the governor to own up to his Administration’s role in the confusion and fix it.
“These arrests are about one thing and one thing only: attempting to intimidate communities of color to deprive them of their hard-earned right to vote freely,” said Charlie Crist. “Ron DeSantis should focus on the real issues plaguing Floridians – skyrocketing property insurance rates and utility bills – instead of engaging in political stunts that taxpayers end up paying for.”
