Today, Charlie Crist, candidate for governor of Florida, released a statement following new reporting revealing how Ron DeSantis’s failure to effectively evacuate Fort Myers and Southwest Florida undoubtedly cost the lives of dozens of Floridians as Hurricane Ian barreled towards the vulnerable communities. 

“DeSantis failed to urge Floridians to safety during one of the most catastrophic storms to hit our state,” said Charlie Crist. “As governor, you have a bully pulpit, especially in times of crisis. He failed to use it and urge residents to safety as a catastrophic storm barreled their way — and tragically over a hundred people are dead. If I were governor, I would have called for earlier evacuations in these vulnerable communities.”
