This weekend, candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley and End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller met with voters to discuss what’s at stake in this election and to call out Congressman Ted Budd for his pattern of corruption and siding with corporate special interests at the expense of North Carolina. End Citizens United named Congressman Budd as part of their “Big Money 20,” the top 20 politicians who “put corporate special interests and mega donors ahead of the people they’re supposed to represent.”
“Ted Budd’s history of pay-to-play politics earned him a spot on our list of most corrupt politicians,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “He has consistently sided with his corporate donors over North Carolina families on issues that impact their daily lives, like prescription drug prices, predatory lending, and price gouging. In return, he’s cashed in on hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporations. He embodies everything that is wrong with our broken political system.”
“I’m running to represent the people of North Carolina and do what’s best for our state – every day, every time. That’s why I don’t accept corporate PAC money – because I’ll serve the people of this state, not corporate special interests. With Congressman Budd’s record of corruption and commitment to rewriting the rules to help himself and his corporate donors, it’s clear that North Carolinians can’t afford six more years of Congressman Budd,” said Cheri Beasley.
On Saturday, Cheri and End Citizens United president Tiffany Muller held a community conversation in Forsyth County to talk about Cheri’s commitment to holding corporate special interests accountable, and met with voters at a Guilford County canvass launch to talk about the clear choice in this race.
On Sunday, Cheri and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, met with voters at a “Souls to the Polls” get out the vote rally in Durham and Cheri stopped to chat with voters at the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh.
With less than three weeks before Election Day, Cheri continues to earn unmatched momentum in the race. On the heels of raising over $13.3 million in the third fundraising quarter of 2022, and nearly tripling what Congressman Ted Budd raised, Cheri launched her “For the People” Get Out the Vote Tour to reach voters who may have had limited access to the one U.S. Senate Debate because Congressman Budd refused to do a free, statewide debate available to all North Carolinians. With polls showing this race neck and neck, Cheri’s campaign is building a “winning coalition” with her “North Carolina-centric race.”
