Today, candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley joined members of Women for Beasley to share her commitment to protecting our Constitutional freedoms and the clear choice on the ballot. While Cheri is a former judge who has spent decades upholding our rights and respecting the Constitution, Congressman Budd is pushing for a national abortion ban without exceptions.

“This election will decide whether we can protect our right to make decisions for our own bodies. It will determine whether our Constitutional freedoms are secured or further at risk. And my opponent, Ted Budd, is leading the charge to ban abortion nationwide and will stop at nothing to take away the right for women to make their own decisions for their bodies,” said Cheri Beasley. “That’s what is at stake in this election, and that’s why it’s so important to get out and vote. I’ve served as a judge and Chief justice for over two decades upholding the Constitution, and I stand ready to fight for our rights in the Senate.” 

“With so much at stake in this election, we need more people like Cheri in Washington who will stand up to protect our constitutional rights, from protecting access to contraception and the right to marry who we love, to protecting voting rights, to the freedom to make decisions about our own bodies without government interference,” said Manisha Dass.

“I’m supporting Cheri Beasley for the U.S. Senate because she has a proven track record of standing up for North Carolinians as a judge and Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court,” said Claire Hutto. “She’s going to be a fierce protector of our constitutional rights and will fight for the issues I care most about in the Senate – protecting our reproductive rights, combating climate change and fighting for affordable healthcare.”

“I’m supporting Cheri Beasley for the U.S. Senate because there’s merely too much at stake this election,” said Janine Rouson. “The right for women to make their own reproductive healthcare choices without government interference and the ability to have free and fair elections is on the ballot. Access to affordable healthcare and good-paying jobs that will feed a family–are all on the ballot this year, so we simply can’t afford to sit this one out. North Carolina deserves a Senator who will fight for our constitutional rights and freedoms and will do what is best for North Carolina— and that person is Cheri Beasley.”

Cheri is committed to protecting our constitutional rights, including access to abortion, which the majority of North Carolinians and Americans support. Meanwhile, Congressman Budd is leading the charge on a nationwide ban on abortion without exceptions and today is campaigning with Mike Pence who recently said, “our work must also go far beyond simply working to make abortion illegal, we must continue to work to make it unthinkable.”
