In case you missed it, political outsider, successful business leader, and Republican nominee for U.S. Senate Joe O'Dea spoke with Steve Doocy on Fox & Friends about his life story and his agenda for the U.S. Senate.

Doocy: There might be some folks who are unfamiliar with your story. You were in college but decided to drop out and start your own business. Why is that?

O'Dea: Well, I didn't know what I wanted to do when I got out of high school, went through the trade schools got hooked on cabinetry, carpentry, chased, my wife on up to Colorado State University got most of my construction management degree. And right then we opened a business and right now we we employ 300 families here in Colorado, we own a heavy civil construction company, we build a lot of roads and bridges across the great State of Colorado. It's been a great, great business for me. A lot of good people that I work with, we've employed 1000s of working Americans here in Colorado, and I'm fired up to be the next senator of Colorado. We need some leadership that knows what it's like to run a business, knows what it's like to sign the front of a check, knows what it's like to have to, you know, pinch pennies, put payroll on your on your credit card, make it, make it stretch. And that's that's why I'm going to the Senate. We need some help there.

On Crime

Doocy: I understand you're the the son of a police officer. So you understand the crime wave that is stretching across the country and how deeply it impacts people who are afraid to go out of the house in some cases.

O'Dea: Oh, it's terrible. This election is going to be a referendum on Joe Biden and these policies that he's put in place. Michael Bennet votes with him 98% of the time, and our economy is a disaster right now — record inflation here in Colorado, 15.6%. We've lost 10% of our buying power. And in addition to that, 30% hike in crime here in Colorado. Colorado is the number one state for stolen vehicles, the number one state for bank robberies, we're number three in violent crime. It's taken over the cities. I grew up in a house of law and order. My dad knew what it was like to keep the peace. We need to get back to those kinds of times, people are afraid to get out of their car here in Denver at night. We're one of the most dangerous cities in the nation. It's gotten completely out of control.
