In case you missed it, political outsider, successful business leader, and Republican nominee for U.S. Senate Joe O'Dea spoke with Guy Benson about his agenda to lift up working Americans and what's at-stake for America's future in this midterm election. Listen to the full interview here. See the highlights below:
On Inflation Reduction Act"I mean, the bottom line is, is it's a tax. The inflation Reduction Act is a tax. It's designed to go after working Americans. They've got a new bureaucracy that they funded, the IRS bureaucracy with $80 billion. They're gonna send 87,000 bureaucrats after working Americans. I just saw a column on the Joint Committee on Taxation, which is nonpartisan, and they're saying that those audits, 75% of them, are going to be against working Americans making less than 100 grand. They're taxing our manufacturers 15%. And then the one thing that he hasn't told everybody is there's a $16 a barrel excise tax on oil. So they're, it's a tax, and that's the part that he's just disingenuous on. This thing is never going to do anything to inflation. It's more spending. If anything, it's just going to shove inflation further up. Right now the $1.9 trillion that he voted for, he was the 50th vote for the rescue plan, that's caused record supercharged inflation here in the United States. Colorado is really feeling it, we're almost 15%. And working Americans have taken a 10% haircut on their value of their dollars. It's not going near as far. They're paying through the nose for groceries right now. It's caused record pricing on gas and diesel. This is this is a dire time and he continues to spend."On Visiting the Border"This election is a referendum on Joe Biden and Michael Bennet's failures, they're locked at the hip. Bennet's with him 98% of the time. And right now there's a humanitarian crisis at the border. Migrants are dying. We've got human trafficking. The border is leaking fentanyl and this fentanyl is killing working Americans right now. We've got 1900 Coloradans that lost their life to this poison, and other drugs last year. And we've got to put an end to it. Bennet and Biden they will not treat it like a crisis. I will. Every state right now is a border state including Colorado. We're hurting up here. I spent some time with Chief Pazen, Denver Police Chief and Sheriff Schrader from the Jeffco Sheriff's Department. And now I want to go down there and I want to hear from the folks at the border. And I'm gonna make this a priority in the Senate. We've got to get this border secured. Too many Americans are losing their lives, too many Coloradans. This has got to be a priority, and I think I can help get a bill put across that gets this border secured."On Bennet's Investment Hypocrisy"Well, I think it's shameful. I mean, working Americans are getting hammered by taxes and losing our footing. As far as the, you know, inflation, it's eaten up 10%. He's getting wealthy in the Senate. And then when you look into it, and we're talking about betting on Puerto Rico to fail, boy, I don't know if I'd want to be putting those investments out. I think it's shameful that these senators go there, these Congresspeople go there, and they get rich while they're there. That's not what this is designed to do. If I was going to get rich, I'd stay in my business. I don't have to do this. And I'll make sure that it doesn't happen on my watch."On State of the Race"This election is a referendum on Biden. And I can tell you right now, when I go around, and I'm talking to voters across the state here of Colorado, they're so disenchanted with this economy, with the price of their groceries, with the price of gas — this is going to be a referendum on Joe Biden's economy. Michael Bennet votes with him 98% of the time. And it's going to be one of those deals where they're going to replace him because they want something different. They're aggravated, they're angry, they're going to turn out here in Colorado. We've built an enormous tent and we've got good Trump supporters, we've got good supporters that are GOP and unaffiliated, and some Democrats that have jumped across the aisle here because they want something different. And that's who I'm talking to and that's who I'm hearing from across the state."
