From January  21, 2022 post.

U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement ahead of the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Roe v. Wade:

“Forty-nine years ago, the Roe v. Wade decision enshrined into law the right of women to make their own health care decisions, providing women the economic and personal freedoms that all people deserve. Nearly half a century later, our country has made important strides in many aspects of our society – yet when it comes to women’s reproductive rights, we are moving backward. In New Hampshire and in states across the country, Republican politicians are passing laws aimed at stripping away those rights, and the Supreme Court will soon decide whether to allow them to keep doing it. I am committed to fighting against these attacks that harm not only women’s health, but our democracy as a whole.”

Last June, Senator Hassan joined in introducing legislation that would guarantee a woman’s right to choose, and Senator Hassan has led efforts in Congress to protect women’s access to reproductive health care. Earlier today, Senator Hassan and the NH Congressional Delegation announced that following their push, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) is receiving $500,000 in Title X Dire Needs. This funding will help offset funding losses that PPNNE, as well as other providers in the region, have suffered over the last few years – both from the previous administration’s Title X Gag Rule, which left the majority of New Hampshire family planning providers without access to Title X funding, as well as from the New Hampshire Executive Council’s repeated votes to defund providers.
