From June 30, 2022

The Human Rights Campaign PAC (HRC PAC) announced its endorsement of 184 members, including Chellie Pingree, of the U.S. House of Representatives running for re-election in 2022.

Although there are a record number of discriminatory anti-LGBTQ+ bills being introduced in state legislatures across the country, we also recognize and celebrate the historically pro-equality U.S. House majority and record number of openly LGBTQ+ members of Congress currently serving in the U.S. House.

All 184 of these members have consistently supported the Equality Act, historic federal legislation that would modernize our nation’s civil rights laws by including explicit protections for LGBTQ+ people, as well as improve protections for women, people of color, and people of all faiths. The House passed the Equality Act in February 2021 and has also passed additional legislation important to the LGBTQ+ community including:

  • LGBTQ Business Equal Credit Enforcement and Investment Act
  • Global Respect Act
  • LGBTQI Data Inclusion Act
  • Violence Against Women Act reauthorization
  • American Dream and Promise Act
  • Bipartisan Background Check Act
  • John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act
  • COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act
  • Women’s Health Protection Act
  • Family Violence Prevention Services Act reauthorization
