Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA is awarding an additional $37,892,489.72 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in Southwest Louisiana. The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported. The reimbursements include:
- $21,868,471.51 to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury for debris removal operations in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 407 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $16,024,018.21 to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry for emergency protective measures in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 100% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
