Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced that FEMA is awarding an additional $20,118,713.32 in Public Assistance reimbursements for hurricane recovery efforts in Southwest Louisiana. The funding is made available through the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported. The reimbursements include:
- $2,365,461.89 to the Calcasieu Parish School Board for repairs at Moss Bluff Middle School in response to Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $1,667,067.72 to the Southwest Louisiana Electric Membership Corp. (SLEMCO) for utility infrastructure repairs as a result of Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
- $16,086,183.71 to the Vermilion Parish School Board for emergency protective measures at 27 campuses as a result of Hurricane Laura. The reimbursement is made at a 90% federal cost-share and authorized under Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
