From September 28, 2022 post.

After hosting a roundtable with local law enforcement and Midwest drug trafficking leaders on the fentanyl crisis, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) today brought Iowans’ concerns to D.C. Ernst highlighted her own efforts to crackdown on those aiding and abetting fentanyl smuggling and distribution.

BACKGROUND

Ernst’s latest effort, the Felony Murder for Deadly Fentanyl Distribution Act, would make the distribution of fentanyl resulting in death punishable by federal felony murder charges. In July, Ernst introduced the Transnational Criminal Organization Illicit Spotter Prevention and Elimination Act which would increase penalties on spotters and impose a maximum prison time of 10 years on those convicted of helping cartels.
