From November 4, 2022 post
Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) October 2022 jobs report:
“This month’s jobs report shows the continued strength of our labor market. Jobs have been added every single month of the Biden presidency, and this stable, growing jobs picture is essential in our fight against inflation. There’s much to celebrate—from workers finding better-paying opportunities to more manufacturing jobs spurred by the Infrastructure Law and the CHIPS and Science Act—and this success wouldn’t be possible without the leadership of President Biden and Congressional Democrats.
“The contrast is stark: Republicans continue to root for a recession and widespread job loss, while Democrats are committed to rewriting the old playbook and building an economy that works for everyone. The Ways and Means Committee isn’t going to settle for the argument that fewer working Americans makes a stronger economy. Rather, we will overcome Republican naysaying by unlocking the full potential of the American workforce. This means enacting universal paid family and medical leave and expanding access to child care so that all workers have the same opportunity to participate. Taking our already-strong economy to new heights is just Democrats’ next step in putting People over Politics.”
