DENVER - Colorado Governor Jared Polis will serve as the Chair of the bipartisan Western Governors Association (WGA) after previously being elected as the Vice-Chair.

“I am honored to serve as Chair of the Western Governors Association and look forward to continued partnership with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle from across the west. This important bipartisan work offers an opportunity to work together on shared issues like water resources, economic growth, wildfire mitigation, climate action, and public land stewardship to create better solutions to the challenges we face,” said Gov. Polis. “I am excited for the future of the WGA, the bipartisan collaboration, and all the progress we can achieve together.”

This week, Gov. Polis announced Heat Beneath Our Feet (HBOF) as his 2023 Western Governors’ Association (WGA) Chair initiative at the Western Governors’ Association meeting. HBOF is a bold initiative that will jump-start the development of geothermal energy generation. HBOF and the exploration of geothermal energy generation is an innovative approach to expanding clean energy resources, saving people money, and promoting bipartisan partnership with other Western States. The program was applauded by a diverse coalition.

Governor Polis also serves on the National Governors Association executive committee.
