Congressman Ed Case (HI-01) issued the following statement after tonight’s address by President Joseph Biden to a joint session of the United States Congress:

“President Biden delivered a strong speech which spoke directly and candidly not only to all Americans but to our world.

“In Congress we are already deeply engaged with the ambitious agenda he laid out, and I agree with him that there is a pragmatic, results-oriented path forward to achieve our mutual goals.

“But aside from those proposals, what especially resonated for me was his beginning, when he asked us to choose hope over fear, and his ending, when he said that our democracy is on the line, the whole world is watching, and we must not fail.

“In so many words, he asked us all to regain faith in our government, in our democracy, in ourselves, that we can and will do just that.”
