With President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator, Michael Regan, testifying before the Senate today, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) asked the top official for clarity about the administration’s position on E-15 year round—as Americans face near-record high prices at the pump ahead of the summer driving season—and the threat of returning to the burdensome Obama-era water regulations under the “Waters of the U.S.,” or WOTUS, rule that Ernst fought hard to rescind.
Ernst asked Regan to come to Iowa in-person to speak directly with farmers about his administration’s policies and rulemaking related to WOTUS.
On Sky-High Gas Prices and E15:
Ernst pointed out that E15 provides a more affordable choice at the pump for consumers and asked if E15 will be allowed this coming summer. Administrator Regan would not commit to allowing E15 this summer.
Invitation to Come to Iowa to Discuss WOTUS Rule:
With Administrator Regan holding roundtable discussions across the country about EPA’s regulations and rulemaking—particular on WOTUS—Ernst invited him to come to Iowa too.
Ernst has kept the pressure on President Biden after his first year in office about his going back on his word with a biofuel agenda amounting to ‘promises made, promises broken.’ Following a report that the Biden administration is looking to roll back the previous administration’s Navigable Waters Protection Rule, Ernst called the decision a “gut punch” to Iowans while reaffirming her commitment to stand up to onerous regulations the administration may seek to impose on hardworking Iowans.
