From July 28, 2022 post.

MADISON, CT: Themis Klarides, the Connecticut Republicans’ endorsed candidate to take on Senator Dick Blumenthal, today released the following statement on Senate Democrats’ new tax-and-spend binge.

“Today, as we officially enter recession, the idea of a $739 billion tax increase is absolutely preposterous,” said Klarides. “Moreover, on the heels of a $280 billion corporate bailout earlier this week, and persistent inflation running at nearly double digits, pumping another $433 billion of taxpayer dollars into the economy is astoundingly irresponsible.”

“The craziest thing is that they named this bill the ‘Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.’ Only in Washington do you fight inflation by spending hundreds of billions of dollars on climate change. This is exactly the kind of short-sighted partisan stunt that makes Americans sick of Congress. Inflation is a real problem, it will not be solved with this kind of nonsense,” Klarides continued.

“Have Biden and Blumenthal learned nothing from the last two years?” asked Klarides. “Spending at these levels fuels inflation, increasing taxes kills jobs. The formula is not hard to grasp, but yet they continue to take every opportunity to ruin our economy. This would be an ideal time for Dick Blumenthal to learn a new skill: standing up to Biden and his party and voting no. The people of Connecticut demand it,” concluded Klarides.

Themis Klarides is the former Connecticut House Republican Leader, the first woman elected to that position. She was overwhelmingly endorsed by the Connecticut Republican Party at the party convention in May. She is seeking the U.S. Senate seat held by 37-year entrenched politician Dick Blumenthal.
