U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) today announced that the Hawai‘i Public Housing Authority will receive $4.7 million from the American Rescue Plan to keep Hawai‘i families using housing vouchers from being evicted due to increased costs.
“No one should lose their home during a pandemic,” said Senator Schatz, Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Housing and Urban Development. “This new federal funding will help make sure families who are struggling to stay in their homes aren’t evicted and can continue to have safe and stable housing.”
The grants will support Housing Choice Vouchers and Mainstream Vouchers for non-elderly persons with disabilities that otherwise would have their rental assistance terminated as a result of insufficient funding.
