From December  7, 2021 post.

U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) urged swift passage of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 after the House and Senate reached an agreement on what should be in the final bill, which includes critical bipartisan priorities championed by Senator Hassan.

“The challenges we face at home and abroad, including right here in New Hampshire, are immense, and this year’s legislation will help ensure that we as a nation continue to be ready to lead,” said Senator Hassan. “As we look to respond to the 21st century challenges facing our national security - from cybersecurity to outcompeting China - I was proud to see key provisions that I have pushed for included in this must-pass package, and look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to get this bill signed into law.”

See below for key measures that Senator Hassan championed that are included in the NDAA that is set to be voted on by the House and Senate:

  • Addressing Gender Inequities in the Military: Senators Hassan and Joni Ernst’s (R-IA) bipartisan amendment to eliminate the “pink tax” on women’s uniforms in the military and address out-of-pocket expenses service members pay for uniforms
  • Promoting Innovative Technologies and Outcompeting China: An amendment that includes elements of a bill introduced by Senators Hassan and John Thune (R-SD) to encourage quantum research efforts that are critical to national security and economic growth
