Senator Hassan: Thankful for the Compassion of Granite Staters

For my family and for many across the Granite State, Thanksgiving represents so much more than a meal: it’s a time for us to come together, reconnect, and share cherished traditions.

In my household, you’ll usually find three generations gathered together — often with a few friends in the mix — to share a potluck meal and talk about what we’re thankful for.

I believe that every family deserves to experience a full meal, shared with others — and I’m proud of the volunteers working tirelessly across New Hampshire to ensure that everyone in their community has a meal to put on the table and gather around this Thanksgiving.

This past Saturday, I joined volunteers at Madison Church Food Pantry to distribute turkeys and other tasty Thanksgiving sides to the people in their community. The food pantry does incredible work year-round — providing 1,200 meals each month to people throughout Madison.

And on Tuesday, I joined the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter in handing out its Thanksgiving turkey and food boxes. Each November, the pantry distributes more than 1,000 of these boxes to Granite Staters, assuring that they’ll have holiday meals in their homes.

To me, these organizations and their volunteers perfectly embody the Granite State’s all-hands-on-deck spirit. Every Thanksgiving, I give thanks for the kindness and compassion of people in New Hampshire and across the country. Especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve seen Granite Staters step up in extraordinary ways to help others and bring joy to their communities.

As always, I am incredibly thankful to serve as your Senator, and I’ll continue working to ensure that you and your family have everything you need to thrive.

Happy Thanksgiving, New Hampshire!
