WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16) released the following statement after Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that she will not be seeking reelection to House Democratic leadership after the 117th Congress.

“Thank you, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, for your leadership and service to our country. As the first female speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, you broke the glass ceiling for millions of American women. You led the House through some of the most challenging times in American history, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2008 recession. You helped craft major pieces of legislation to move this country forward, including the Affordable Care Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.” said Costa. “Madam Speaker always with class and grace, and it has been an honor to serve with you. We got a lot done and we’ve got more work to do. Thank you, Madam Speaker."
