WASHINGTON - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee released the following statement on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom:

"This is a sad day. Queen Elizabeth II has been a steadfast leader who never shied away from her duty and dedication to the people of the United Kingdom. Through good times and bad, she was a constant presence who was admired around the world. I offer my deepest sympathies to her family and all our friends in Britain."
