PALO ALTO, CA – Today Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo (CA-18) released the following statement on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom:

“Queen Elizabeth II served with dignity and grace for seven decades on the throne. Through both turbulent and peaceful times, she valiantly carried the United Kingdom into the modern era. Queen Elizabeth was an unwavering ally to the U.S., and even broke protocol after 9/11 to allow the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner during the Changing of the Guard outside Buckingham Palace.

“She will be remembered for her extraordinary leadership and poise, especially during trying times. My condolences and prayers are with the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom as we mourn the loss of an exceptional world leader.”
