U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) released the following statement after the Hawai‘i Department of Health approved the Navy’s plan to drain pipelines at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility.  

“This is a positive step toward defueling and shutting down Red Hill. DoD must continue to work with state officials and community leaders as quickly as possible. There’s no turning back, and there’s no time to waste.”
