GOP Doctors Caucus along with House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) hosted a press conference to discuss the mounting evidence that suggests that COVID-19 originated from a leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
“With an estimated 600,000 Americans lost to the COVID-19 pandemic, we must leave no stone unturned as we work to uncover the origins of the 2019 novel Coronavirus. Reports of efforts by the Chinese Communist Party and the World Health Organization to stymie investigations and possibly conceal the truth are unethical and deeply disturbing,” said the GOP Doctors Caucus. “We, as doctors and health care providers, believe it is imperative to pinpoint the origins of this virus so that we can pursue justice for the victims and equip the U.S. – and the world – to be better prepared to stave off future public health crises.”
“Why would Speaker Pelosi want to try to cover up for what China did? Here in the United States, we have had over 600,000 deaths, yet Speaker Pelosi still refuses to hold a hearing into the origin of this virus," said Whip Scalise. "House Republicans are not going to stand idly by. Next week, Republicans on the Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis will be having a hearing into the origins of COVID-19. We’ve invited many respected doctors, scientists, as well as Members of Congress, who have been investigating this on their own, to come forward and testify. Americans deserve answers, and House Republicans are committed to getting them.”
“Americans deserve to know the truth about the COVID-19 coverup," Rep. Stefanik said. “Today the GOP Doctors Caucus provided expert medical insight and awareness to the World Health Organizations’ investigation failures. House Republicans will not rest until China is held accountable for their role in the Covid-19 virus outbreak.”
The GOP Doctors Caucus is comprised of Republican Members of Congress with medical and health care provider backgrounds and who utilize their medical expertise and backgrounds to develop patient-centered health care policy.
