From August 19, 2021 post.

Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) issued the following statement regarding reports that the U.S. State Department has notified Americans trapped in Afghanistan that it cannot ensure their safety:

"The moral reputation and strength of the United States need to be re-established now.

If we need to send 50,000 troops to ensure the safe passage of all Americans and our beloved allies in Afghanistan, then we do it now. We should not be begging the Taliban; they should be begging us.

Before this country spends trillions of dollars on progressive woke ideas, we should spend it on saving valued American and pro-American lives.

This is a text I received two days ago from one of the interpreters I supported. He is now a cardiologist and a US Citizen:

‘It is very very disheartening. The image of American morality is being tested and is not doing so well so far.’”
