From August 26, 2021 post.
Congressman Brad Wenstrup (OH-02) issued the following statement after the bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport, which reportedly has taken the lives of at least 12 U.S. servicemembers:
“There are no words that can truly express how heartbroken and upset I am about the servicemembers and innocent civilians who died today in this senseless attack. As we continue to receive updates from the administration regarding the situation, I join the nation in praying for the families of those lost as well as the many individuals injured.
The United States must re-establish ourselves. It’s difficult to trust anyone other than our own troops and our true allies. President Biden should do whatever is necessary to take full control of the situation in Kabul and provide the wherewithal needed to swiftly and safely evacuate all Americans and our allies. Our strategic and tactical options do not have to depend on the Taliban.
I am furious and sickened that the situation on the ground has deteriorated so swiftly that an attack of this magnitude was able to occur.
The United States of America does not leave people behind. Period. Let’s not start now.
Finally, now is a time for all Americans to resolve to stand together as a nation in the face of evil. One nation, under God. Peace through strength.”
