NEW JERSEY/NEW YORK — This week, 56 different federal, state, and local leaders, state and local chambers of commerce, transportation and agricultural organizations, and tourism and transportation companies came together to express deep concerns to New York’s Traffic Mobility Review Board and stand up against the proposed Congestion Tax.
New York and the MTA’s Congestion Tax could go into effect as early as 2023 and would cost drivers up to $23 dollars a day — more than $5,000 a year — to drive south of 60th Street.

“We are a coalition of businesses, associations, and elected officials who are deeply concerned about the Central Business District (CBD) Tolling Program,” the 56 different businesses, associations, and elected officials wrote in a letter this week to New York’s Traffic Mobility Review Board. “We all have different concerns about precisely how our industries and constituents will be affected by the new Congestion Tax, expected to be up to $23 dollars a day for commuters and potentially much higher for commercial traffic. Beyond affecting drivers and the transportation industry, this new toll will increase labor costs for employers and the price of goods and services for residents of the CBD.”Full text of the letter can be found here.
