From March 1, 2022 post.

Congressman Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), issued the following statement in response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union:

"Tonight, President Biden presented a review of the last year that simply does not reflect the reality of what Americans in southern and southwestern Ohio experienced first-hand.

"A year into office, President Biden has failed to fulfill the promises of unity and bipartisanship he espoused in his Inaugural Address. Instead of seeking opportunities for good-faith policymaking on both sides of the aisle, he has pursued a radically progressive agenda that has exacerbated old crises and created new ones.

"Over the past year, we have abandoned American citizens and Afghan allies in Afghanistan, hesitated to place crippling sanctions on Russia despite knowing that Putin was preparing to invade a democratic and sovereign Ukraine, and failed to hold China accountable over the origins of COVID-19. His refusal to work across the aisle has led to painful inflation, which is a tax on all Americans. We have record rates of illegal immigration, a crime surge, unconstitutional vaccine mandates, and a resurgence of the opioid epidemic that has ravaged our communities.

"I stand ready to work with the President and any Member of Congress who seeks to find solutions to provide Americans – present and future – more freedom, opportunity, and security.

"We should constantly ask ourselves if future generations will thank us for the policies enacted today. I do not believe they will look kindly upon this President’s first year or his agenda."

Congressman Wenstrup was in attendance for the speech tonight in Washington, D.C.
