More than 700 people came together at the Las Vegas Convention Center to participate in Governor Sisolak’s Healthcare Provider Summit.

United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra provided the keynote address and Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Senator Jacky Rosen, Congresswoman Susie Lee, Congresswoman Steven Horsford and Lieutenant Governor Lisa Cano Burkhead also participated in the Summit that brought together providers and stakeholders from around Nevada to discuss opportunities to improve the State’s healthcare landscape.

At the event, Governor Sisolak announced his intention to make a $20 million investment of American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) funds for Nevada’s Crisis Stabilization Centers. The Governor will work with our partners, many of whom attended the Summit, and members of the Nevada Legislature to make sure crisis stabilization centers are fully funded throughout the State.

“This is a critical time to make this investment as we look to the launch of 9-8-8, the new behavioral health and crisis phone number,” said Governor Sisolak. “But it started long before this with legislation that was passed and signed over our past two legislative sessions. The 9-8-8 call line will provide connection to caring individuals, but once established, these Crisis Stabilization Centers will provide the welcoming environment to support individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.”

This funding will allow Nevada to develop the infrastructure needed for emergency behavioral health care centers in Nevada, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This announced funding comes as the State and nation look to the July launch of 988, the new behavioral health and crisis phone number that will provide connection to caring individuals who can answer crisis calls and offer support, but the Crisis Stabilization Centers are needed to provide the warm and welcoming environment to support individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.
