Senator Cortez-Masto Secures Nearly $675 Million for Law Enforcement Efforts

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Nevada Senator Cortez Masto has secured historically large funding for crime victims and local law enforcement.

In the bipartisan government funding package just announced, Cortez Masto led in securing $674.5 million in grants for local police departments.

A $190.5 million increase over last year, these funds will support a range of crime prevention programs.

Also contained in the omnibus package is the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act; $13.6 billion to support Ukraine; and $15.6 billion to manage coronavirus.

Additionally, this package contains significant funding for state-wide community projects. This includes $3 million, secured by Senator Cortez Masto, for the construction of a training facility for Las Vegas Metro Police Department and $950,000 to support Clark County School District's mental health services.
