Veterans advocate and U.S. Senate candidate Tiffany Smiley (R-WA) issued the following statement in response to Sen. Patty Murray’s (D-WA) decision to launch her re-election campaign with desperate negative attack ads.
Tiffany Smiley said: “This is what desperation looks like, and it’s not a good look for Patty Murray. After three decades in the Senate, Patty Murray and her allies can’t talk about progress because Washington families are feeling the pressure of skyrocketing gas prices, empty shelves that should be filled with baby formula, a homelessness crisis and an epidemic of addiction ravaging our communities. Patty Murray hit the panic button because she knows she failed Washington families, and this November they will be voting for a new mom to fight for us in the Senate.”

The average cost of a gallon of gas in Washington State currently stands at $5.54. Just one year ago, the cost of a gallon of gas was just $3.61 – a spike of more than 50%. Despite these skyrocketing costs, Senator Murray continues to oppose an all-of-the-above energy strategy that would return our nation to energy independence.
Washington is one of 10 states to have a 90% out-of-stock rate for baby formula – a crisis that Senator Murray could have averted had she taken action during the 15 months she was aware of problems at the Abbott formula manufacturing facility.
Washington currently has the 4th highest rate of veterans’ homelessness in the country and homeless encampments have taken over parks, government property, and even elementary school grounds across Washington. Not only hasn’t Senator Murray worked to find a solution to this problem, she hasn’t even visited a homeless encampment to see the human tragedy for herself.
Washington is facing a public safety emergency. In Seattle, the police force has lost hundreds of officers in just the past two years, in large part due to low morale. During this same period, violent crime has escalated and lawlessness dominated our streets as autonomous zones were established. The voters of Seattle spoke loudly last November when they elected a Republican City Attorney for the first time since 1989, yet Senator Murray continues to coddle the Defund the Police crowd.
With all these problems and 30 years of failing to deliver solutions, it’s no wonder why Senator Patty Murray hit the panic button on her spiraling campaign.
