Austin Dean, Digital Director for Cortez-Masto's Campaign, Advocated for and Donated to Soros-Backed Fund Tasked with Bailing Out Charged Felons

RENO, NV – Today, Fox News reports that sitting Senator Cortez Masto's campaign digital director is an advocate of and donor to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which raises money to post bail for those charged with rioting, murder, rape, and other serious crimes. The fund has a history of affiliation with George Soros' Open Society Foundations, and has freed criminals who went on to commit murder and rape.

FOX News reports:

"The digital director for Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto’s re-election campaign contributed to and helped promote the far-left Minnesota Freedom Fund, which has a history of bailing out violent criminals.  The Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF), which raised millions of dollars to bail out protesters who were arrested in the demonstrations following the police-involved slaying of George Floyd in Minneapolis, was once promoted by then-Sen. Kamala Harris and has since made headlines for bailing out violent offenders, some of whom have gone on to re-offend.  In August 2020, the MFF defended itself after bailing out a convicted rapist who raped a woman just weeks after his release. He was later convicted and sentenced to 25 to 30 years in prison.Last month, Minneapolis local media reported that another man bailed out by the MFF was out for three weeks before he allegedly murdered an old nemesis with whom he had a 'beef.'

Cortez Masto’s campaign digital director, Austin Dean, proudly announced in May 2020 that he had donated to the MFF. 'I hope you'll join me in supporting the Minnesota Freedom Fund to directly provide relief for those protesting for their rights to be treated as human beings," Dean tweeted on May 29, 2020.'"  Senator Cortez Masto herself praised and did events with Battle Born Progress, a defund-the-police group that also promoted the bail fund.  Cortez Masto has also said she supports the Black Lives Matter Movement and that we need to, “address the systemic racism we see and reform our police departments.”"This is why Cortez Masto's campaign is failing to convince Nevada's voters and build any momentum" Brian Freimuth, spokesman for Adam Laxalt's campaign, said, "Anyone can see that she is lying when she returns to Nevada during an election year and pretends to be a moderate Democrat. She rubs elbows with anti-police radicals and can only find leftist activists to run her campaign. She's a rubber-stamp for the Biden-Harris socialist economic agenda and she sides with far left activist groups against Nevada's law enforcement community. This is why nearly a dozen police groups that initially backed Cortez Masto switched their endorsement over to Adam Laxalt's campaign."Background:

  • Laxalt is endorsed by the Nevada Fraternal Order of Police and the Public Safety Alliance of Nevada (PSAN), which represents over 10,000 law Enforcement Officers throughout over 100 state and local organizations.
  • All of the following organizations endorsed Cortez Masto's candidacy when she first ran for Senate in 2016. All have now flipped to support Laxalt:
  • Nevada Fraternal Order of Police
  • Peace Officers Association of the Clark County School District
  • Washoe County School Police Officer’s Association
  • Las Vegas Peace Officers Supervisors Association
  • Carson City Sheriff’s Supervisory Association
  • Douglas County Sheriff’s Protective Association
  • Las Vegas Police Protective Association (LVPPA)
  • Police Managers and Supervisors Association (PMSA)

  • The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), which represents more than 1,000 police units and associations and over 241,000 law enforcement officers across the country have also endorsed Laxalt.
  • The National Border Patrol Council, which represents roughly 18,000 Border Patrol Agents, have endorsed Laxalt
  • In a recent press release, the Laxalt campaign detailed 13 reasons why police groups switched their endorsements from Cortez Masto to Laxalt.
