Former Maricopa County Recorder, Adrian Fontes, has endorsed Ginger Sykes Torres for Arizona’s First Congressional District. Fontes released a statement in which he cited Ginger’s credentials and her electability.

Fontes said in part:

“Ginger is an incredibly intelligent environmental leader, a wonderful mother to her three children, and a fierce champion for Native Americans in Arizona.

“As the former Maricopa County Recorder, I know how competitive Congressional District 6 was in 2020. Since redistricting, the district (now CD1) is significantly more competitive given its demographic makeup. I believe Ginger is the only candidate in the Democratic primary who can win a general election in CD1 against David Schweikert.

“I wholeheartedly support Ginger Sykes Torres for Congress and call on my fellow Democrats and independents who value common-sense policies to support her as well.”

In response, Ginger Sykes Torres said:

“I am honored to have the endorsement of my friend Adrian Fontes, the former Maricopa County Recorder, who in 2020 oversaw the most consequential election in Maricopa County’s history.

“I am proud to say that my campaign is truly building a coalition of people across Congressional District 1, we have a growing list of support from local leaders, organizations, and Arizonans who have had enough of David Schweikert’s obstruction.

“I appreciate Adrian’s support and the confidence he has placed in my campaign.”

Adrian Fontes is the latest person to endorse Ginger for Congress. Ginger has been endorsed by Congressman Grijalva, State Senator Hatathlie, State Rep. Blackwater-Nygren, and the United Farm Workers.
