Scott Zimmerman for Governor: Legislative Bill 1158 Is a Bad Bill

Nebraska

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Nebraska Legislative Bill 1158 is a bad Bill! It is not the lesson planning we should be going after; it is the core standards which need to be evaluated and, quite frankly, removed in most cases. Placing the burden on teachers to provide a full year of lesson plans for a classroom that has yet to be populated with a dynamic group of learners with diverse needs is unreasonable, unrealistic, and unacceptable.  There is already a shortage of classroom coverage in Nebraska. There is no benefit to this bill. Parents can and should be involved in the curriculum conversation, but a blanket Government mandate will only serve as an illusion of "control", meanwhile teachers will still be forced to align with the state education standards which were instituted by the very same Government who put them in place. Teachers aren't the problem! Standardized Education is!!#backthebeard
